What is a Progressive Immersion Style in Spatial Computing?

A flower that represents spatial computing with the text "Progressive Immersion" beneath it.

The term "progressive immersion" refers to an app or experience that takes up the entire shared space, whilst integrating the real-world around it..

An image that shows how a window can increase in size or take up the entire space. In the event of a small screen it is known as "mixed", a larger one "progressive" and the entire space is known as "full."

Depending on the chosen immersion style for an app, the experience may exist as mixed immersion, progressive immersion or full immersion.

Depending on the immersive level that you wish to have within an app (i.e. experience) you may choose between mixed, progressive or full.

An example of progressive immersion. The window takes up a large portion of the space and there are no other windows present. The external surroundings can still be seen around the window.

Progressive immersive experiences live within the shared space as a single window that allow users to browse the experience through a large floating screen, whilst allowing the real-world surroundings to passthrough the headset.
